It would require a rewrite of a Zauber file, which is another reason that I was against it
(And spawner minecarts)
Noah Module: Saplings for Zauber Cauldrons / Spawner Minecarts Main Feature: Allows Saplings to be used with these modules like flowers are, albeit at much less efficient rates compared to flowers. - The power level for Spawner Minecarts would be in between Grass and Bad Flowers. - Zauber could also have a nerfed version of the Luck obtaining method, where if you add all 1-6 types of Saplings, it gives you Luck for a set amount of time, similar to the original Zauber Module. This would make the excess saplings you get from tree farms more useful instead of an inefficient fuel.

This is an interesting concept. I voted it up because something as simple as grass blocks already work as fuel for the minecarts. (edited)
saplings at least need to be farmed with some reasonable effort
less than that of flowers, but still some

Grass is eaten mostly to make auto-charging spawner minecarts more difficult (you can't bonemeal flowers onto dirt with a dropper)
Spawner Minecarts is still in beta on the server so you could suggest this as a module change on the github to include saplings.
